A Lyric Suite
Long a proponent of the Romantic tradition, heralded composer Paul Whear aptly titled this multi-movement work as an homage to lyricism itself. Commissioned by the U.S. Navy Band, this is a solid work in the serious band repertoire. The movements can be successfully programmed separately as well as part of the entire suite. The woodwind writing absolutely glows.
