Early One Morning
Early One Morning was prepared in an orchestral version by Percy Grainger for a recording devoted to Grainger's music under the direction of Leopold Stokowski. This is the first publication of this setting--one of the very finest Grainger ever made to an existing folk melody. He completed it in 1950. The parts and score were all in Grainger's hand and were painstakingly edited to approximate the optimum of accuracy. There were many problems in Grainger's own parts which sometimes the parts answered, while at other times, the score gave the editor a more clear explanation.
