About Two Irish Tunes (arr. Hall)
Folk music from all over the world is one of the greatest sources of music, and a satisfying alternative source for woodwind quartet, when so much of the literature is taken from the classics. People who immigrated years ago from Ireland brought their music with them and now it is really American music with Irish roots! These two Irish tunes will be familiar to performers and audiences making this quartet a good choice for contest and concert. "The Minstrel Boy" is a lyrical song requiring sensitive playing, and "The Galway Piper" is an exciting country dance needing a well articulated staccato style. Keys are E-flat and B-flat major, articulations and dynamics are well marked to aid in preparation.
