About Turkish March (from Ruins of Athens)
Beethoven wrote it. Andrew Balent arranged it for young strings. What more do you need? This familiar work is from The Ruins of Athens, written in 1811 as incidental music to a play. Since its appearance as an epilogue to the play in the new theatre in Pest, the work has been consistently popular. Always a popular addition to any program, Turkish March provides a marvelous opportunity to strengthen your students staccato style bowing.
