About Finale from William Tell (arr. Hall)
This well known piece from Rossini’s opera has thrilled audiences for many years in a way that Rossini never imagined. It became the galloping music for the Lone Ranger’s horse Silver and just makes you want to gallop when you hear it played, no matter what the instrumentation. This trio is scored for xylophone and 2 marimbas. If 2 are not available both marimba parts can be played on one concert instrument with care given to which octave each player is to use. Choice of mallets is also critical for a good performance to properly take care of balance and to still maintain excitement. Some stickings are marked to facilitate learning. Players and audiences will really enjoy this trio.
