About The Welsh and the Irish (arr. Hall)
These two folk tunes from the British Isles will be familiar to the performers making this an excellent ensemble for less experienced mallet players. It is written for 3 marimbas and bells or vibes. Xylophones can be used to replace one or more of the marimbas, or 2 players could play on one marimba by choosing different octaves and with care in choosing mallets that will balance and blend with the other parts. Both legato and staccato playing are required adding to the learning experience.
