Delphic Mode
What better way to teach young musicians about modes than to play a work based on one of the classic modes of music history? Written in the Phrygian mode (based on D), this is a terrific teaching piece because it isn't difficult to play. It is skillfully scored, with interesting parts for all instruments and percussion, yet remains tuneful and fascinating.
